Flaxseed Oil
Oils are added to the equine diet to increase energy density without adding bulk. Not only is it calorically dense, but oils are also useful in cleaning up a horse’s coat and adding the shine you desire. Studies have shown the addition of oil in a horse’s diet to increase the flexibility of hooves and to be considered “calm energy” as it won’t cause a hot-head or overly excited horse.
Flaxseed oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids in comparison to other plant sourced oils. The purpose of these omega-3 fatty acids include: decreased inflammation, increased immune response, maintenance of healthy membranes, and an upsurge in sperm production. Source of Omegas May Matter
